Lexington Arts & Cultural Council is pleased to present Bluegrass Printmakers' Cooperative Invitational, an upcoming exhibition at ArtsPlace Gallery featuring the art prints of the founding members of the Cooperative. This exhibition will be the inaugural celebration and fundraiser for the newly established Bluegrass Printmakers' Cooperative (BPC), a member-run organization located in the basement of ArtsPlace. Print sales from the exhibition will go directly toward BPC facility and programming expenses. A closing reception and celebration designated the Printmakers' Ball will be held February 18, 2005 from 5 – 10 p.m. Demonstrations, tours and entertainment will be provided and extra unframed prints not included in the exhibition will be available for purchase.
The mission of the BPC is to be a thriving studio in the Lexington area for printmakers to work; create a dialogue about prints and art; expose and educate the community about prints and the printmaking process through classes, demonstrations, and workshops; and give printmakers an opportunity to exhibit and sell their work.
Some of the founding members whose works will be exhibited include Elizabeth Foley, Helene Steene, Robert Ronk, Ross Zirkle, Joyce Probus, Alex Brooks, Christina Igelmo, Laura Lee Cundiff, and Jill Plaisted.
Anyone interested in becoming a part of the Bluegrass Printmakers' Cooperative is urged to contact the Lexington Arts & Cultural Council at 859-255-2951 or e-mail trobinson@lexarts.org .
