Conversation in Color

COLOR HAS LONG BEEN BELIEVED TO
PLAY A POWERFUL ROLE IN THE HUMAN
EXPERIENCE, not only visually but emotionally and
physiologically. Throughout history, cultures around
the world have attributed healing properties to
different colors—think of the calming blue in ancient
Egyptian temples or the use of vibrant red ochre in
Aboriginal artwork as a symbol of life and vitality.
These associations have seeped into modern practices,
where color is increasingly used in therapeutic
contexts to encourage balance and well-being.

There’s something deeply human about the
relationship between light, pigment, and our inner
states—almost as if color speaks a quiet language
the body understands. In that way, healing isn’t just
about medicine—it’s also about the atmosphere we
create around ourselves.

UK Arts in HealthCare’s mission is to create an environment of care and to focus on the spiritual,
emotional and physical well‑being of our patients, family, caregivers and staff. The program
recognizes the arts and the artists as powerful and positive forces in the healing process.
