Film Screening of George Dureau: New Orleans Artist

Join us on May 18 from 5–7 PM at 21c Museum Hotel Lexington for a special screening of George Dureau: New Orleans Artist. Light refreshments will be provided.

This 78-minute documentary explores the life and career of George Valentine Dureau (1930–2014), a beloved New Orleans painter and photographer whose work and life were deeply intertwined.

Dureau viewed his models as protagonists, using his art to tell their stories and illuminate the richness of human experience.

Through archival footage, unpublished photographs, and intimate interviews with his friends and models, George Dureau: New Orleans Artist offers a powerful portrait of the artist and a glimpse into a New Orleans that no longer exists.
