Lexington Camera Club Photo Biennial 2025 show “Conjure”

Lexington Camera Club Photo Biennial 2025 show “Conjure” will be opening September 8-October 17. At Gray Design Building, 349 Scott St. Building open M-F, 9-5pm. Gallery Hop is Friday, September 19, 6-9pm. There are 35 photographers displaying their work.

The Lexington Camera Club started in 1934 and continued until 1972 after the death of Ralph Eugene Meatyard, the best-known and most published member. In 2014 there was an exhibit and lecture about the long-dormant club at the University of Kentucky Art Museum by Dr. James Birchfield. After that talk several Lexington Photographers restarted the club, and a year later the revived club had an exhibit at Georgetown College entitled New Alchemy that was affiliated with the Louisville Photo Biennial. Every other year for the past 10 years the club has mounted exhibits:  New Work in 2017 at the Lyric Theater, What Endures at the Loudoun House in 2021 and in 2023 another Loudoun House exhibit entitled CONJURE. This year’s exhibit, CONJURE 2025 will be at the recently-renovated Gray Design Center at UK in the old Reynolds Building which was home of the UK Art Department for many years.

The mission of the camera club is to gather on a regular basis to look at and talk about photographs, and to encourage new and individual ways of looking at the world and transforming it into two dimensions in order to help us see things with new eyes.
