Living Art Initiative and Auction
Levee Collective is pleased to announce our newest initiative, LivingArt . LivingArt confronts the
idea that many galleries and art spaces are detached and peripheral where people only observe
art outside of the context in which it was created. We aim to challenge this convention by taking
art to the streets through public demonstrations, making it contemporary, accessible, and
material, and by creating an exhibition space that is immersive, interactive, and tactile.
LivingArt will debut with an art auction including work by Lexington artists, including Soreyda
Benedit-Begley, Wylie Caudill, Marco Logston, Lina Tharsing, Michael Wayne, and Laverne
Zabielski. Bidding will occur online at zeffy.com. The auction goes live December 7th at 3:00 PM
ET and ends December 15th at 11:00 PM ET. Two in-person viewings, Saturday, December 7th
3:00 to 5:00 PM & Sunday, December 15th 3:00 to 5:00 PM, are open to the public where those
interested can view the works in person and meet the artists.
Proceeds from the auction will be used to transform Levee’s front room into a professional
exhibition space including installing track lighting, repairing and painting the walls and
ceilings, creating outdoor signage, purchasing furniture, and raising funds to establish a
financial buffer during this developmental phase. All donations are tax-deductible through
Levee’s fiscal sponsor LexArts.
