LexArts is greater Lexington’s premier cultural development, advocacy and fundraising organization.


As both the official Local Arts Agency and Central Kentucky’s United Arts Fund, LexArts provides a wide range of programs, initiatives, and services designed to integrate the arts into our daily lives including the LexArts Gallery Hop, LexArts Network, Arts Everywhere for Students: A Teacher’s Guide, institutional art purchases, public art and more.


LexArts’ President & CEO and board members work closely with community leaders and local and state officials concerning public funding and cultural facilities. Through its annual Fund for the Arts campaign, LexArts raises millions of dollars in support of local arts and distributes general operating support to its Partner Organizations, as well as offers competitive special project and programming grants to dozens of arts organizations in the area.


LexArts also operates ArtsPlace, a former YWCA turned cultural edifice, which offers rehearsal space and office space for nonprofit arts organizations. ArtsPlace is also home to LexArts Gallery, one of Lexington’s premier visual art galleries, dedicated to showcasing high quality works by Kentucky artists.

LexArts understands that meaningful work experience can play a significant role in advancing the careers of future arts leaders. Our interns become essential members of our team and are expected to participate in daily activities, contribute skills and ideas, and create excellent work.

LexArts is seeking interns in the following areas:

  • Public Art & Gallery Management
  • Social Media Marketing & Digital Storytelling
  • Artwork Documentation and Digital Archival
  • Finance & Operations
  • Development & Donor Relations
  • Executive Campaign Oversight & Support

Click here for details of each internship area. Interns will expand their skillsets and understanding in their particular department, as well as gain knowledge across all departments by collaborating with the entire LexArts team.



Candidates should be able to commit an average of 15 hours per week for 12 weeks (full summer session). Days/times are flexible and some weekends and nights are required. Interns will report directly to a departmental supervisor and will interact regularly with the internship coordinator. Selected interns will receive a stipend of $1,000 at the end of their internship.
