Public Art Workshop

Lexington’s Public Art Commission will be hosting a workshop for artists and organizations interested in participating in public art projects in Lexington.   

The workshop will take place on Tuesday, April 23rd from 5:30-7:30PM at the Pam Miller Downtown Arts Center. 

The workshop will include:  

  • Presentation on Lexington’s Percent for Art Program and application procedures for the Public Art Commission’s Collaborative Art program.  The Collaborative Program of the Public Arts Commission funds and supports Fayette Co. arts groups, neighborhood associations, LFUCG departments, partnering organizations, non-profit or for-profit businesses, artists, or others, for permanent public art works (longer than one year) to be installed in or on property owned or managed by the Lexington-Fayette Urban Co. Government.  

 

  • Presentations by local guest artists who create public artworks.  Guests Artists will provide information on how they seek out commissions, tips for responding to Calls to Artists and other information to assist artists in expanding or enhancing their artistic practice into public art.    

Artist presentations, and question and answer sessions will provide artists with a greater understanding of the opportunities and processes surrounding the commissioning, creation, and installation of public art.
