Visions & Voices
Join us for a dynamic celebration of epic voices with our season opening concert Visions & Voices on Friday, October 20 at 7:30 PM at the Singletary Center for the Arts!
Featuring the combined orchestral and choral forces of the Lexington Philharmonic, The Lexington Singers and Children’s Choir, the University of Kentucky Chorale, and featured soloists from the University of Kentucky Opera Theatre, Visions & Voices will kick-off our 2023 – 2024 Season : EPIC VOICES. The program will open with Lexington-born and GRAMMY Nominated Composer-in-Residence Shawn E. Okpebholo’s “Sing Dumb” (2016) followed by Okpebholo’s “Stomp the Dust!” (2016). Closing the program is Carl Orff’s magnum opus, “Carmina Burana”, a heavily rhythmic and Renaissance-influenced setting of 24 medieval poems featuring orchestra, soloists, and over 200 epic voices on the Singletary Center stage!
Join us prior to Visions & Voices for a FREE pre-concert lecture with Music Director Mélisse Brunet for an exclusive, in-depth look Inside the Score! The talk begins at 6:30PM in the President’s Room prior to the concert. Seating is limited, so arrive early!
Adult tickets start at $28+ before fees and Student & Youth tickets are $11. LexPhil subscribers pay zero fees.
