Appalachian Shakespeare Center’s Julius Caesar

The Appalachian Shakespeare Center is back in Lexington this summer with Shakespeare’s classic tale of bloody intrigue and political insurrection that has never been timelier. Julius Caesar, the leader of the Roman Republic, has a massive populist following that frightens the Senators of Rome. The honorable Brutus and the scheming Cassius plot against the potential for tyranny they see in Caesar. Gathering a conspiracy of likeminded patriots, they commit the unthinkable. When Caesar’s friend, Mark Antony, propagandizes the citizens to further bloodlust, what follows is strife and civil war marked by some of the best writings in Shakespeare’s canon.
