Lexington Public Library Open Mic featuring Makalani Bandele

Share your poetry, spoken word performance and more on the 2nd Wednesday of every other month. Content should be appropriate for teens and adults and limited to 3-4 minutes.

October’s featured performer will be Makalani Bandele, who will share multimedia work. His third book, (jopappy & the sentence-makers are) eponymous as funk, will be published in 2024 as a recipient of the Other Futures Award which recognizes innovative, adventurous work that challenges conventions of genre and language, content and form. He is an Affrilachian Poet, Cave Canem Fellow, and recipient of numerous other fellowships.
