Louisville-based artist, Karen Grantz, creates work that blends the boundaries of fiber art and traditional acrylic painting. Formally trained in graphic design, she developed a career in mental health for over twenty years before returning to her art roots. In 2022, she joined with her daughter to share their art at local venues as DK Creations. Today, with her daughter now in college, Karen has continued to show at local juried events in the Kentucky and Midwest region. As an artist, Karen is developing her artistic identity across multiple mediums, currently working in acrylic, ink, fiber, and mixed media. Her work is recognizable by its bright colors, playful themes, and textural elements. “It’s a hard world out there, I try to create things that will bring people joy, comfort or peace. During difficult times I have found that a particular object, image or piece of art has helped me stay strong and find my center again.
