Common Wealth of Kentucky Project

Inspired by Jo Robertson, artist Kelly Brewer’s mother, and her deep belief in humanity and love for all people, the Common Wealth of Kentucky Project explores and reveals the richness embodied in this beautiful state, the people who live here, and the common connections we have with one another.

The exhibit is the culmination of a year-long project where artist Kelly Brewer, writer and digital storyteller Beth Pride, and advocate Jill Johnson traveled the state interviewing and painting Kentuckians from all walks of life.

Take your stroll through the rooms of beautiful LexArts Gallery and meet 70 Kentuckians who represent the humanity in which we all coexist. Connect with their vibrant faces and the history in their eyes, and read a short summary of their lives. Scan the blue QR codes with the camera of your smartphone, click the link that pops up, and using your headphones, ear pods, or simply holding the phone to your ear, listen to the sound of participant voices as they tell a section of their own stories.
